Nominations from both staff and students for the 2009 Vice-Chancellor's Awards for Excellence in Education can be made by completing the online nomination form at http://cedam.anu.edu.au/teachingawards/vc until November 30.
The ANU Vice-Chancellor's Teaching Awards recognise and encourage excellence in both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research supervision at the University. Students and staff are invited to nominate now for the four awards for Excellence in Education. Each award has a value of $4,000.
Award for Teaching Excellence
This award gives recognition to teachers (individuals and teams) renowned for the excellence of their teaching, who have outstanding presentation skills and who have made a broad and deep contribution to enhancing the quality of learning and teaching in the ANU
Citation for an Outstanding Contribution
to Student Learning
This award recognises and rewards the diverse contributions that individuals and teams make to the quality of student learning in a specific area of responsibility over a sustained period, whether they are academic staff, general staff, sessional staff or institutional associates
Award for Excellence in Supervision
This award recognises a sustained record of strong and innovative commitment to research students, and best practice in introducing students to research and research networks
Award for a Program That Enhances Learning
This award recognises teaching and learning support programs and services that make an outstanding contribution to the quality of student learning and the quality of the student experience at the ANU

Who can be nominated?
Academic and general staff:
* in full-time or fractional employment
* in continuing or contract positions
* as individuals - who have been employed at the ANU for at least 2 years
* or in teams - the team leader and at least 1 team member have been employed at the ANU for at least 2 years
* and who will be a member of staff at the ANU during the period of the Award Committee’s deliberations and decision (ie in the semester after nomination).
Programs:
* that provide learning and teaching support and services.

Who can nominate?
* Staff who are colleagues of the nominees and are familiar with their teaching or their contribution to the student learning environment or educational experience
* Students who are either currently enrolled in a course taught by the nominee or else have been taught or supervised by the nominee within the last three years
* Nominations may be made by individuals or by groups
