MHE Program StructureSemester 2,2009 enrolments accepted until end of JulyStudy OptionsThe Master of Higher Education comprises eight courses (48 units), involving substantial project work. Participants must complete a mixture of coursework-based and project-based courses. The program is designed to be completed over 3 years, but can be completed over 2 - 6 years, in consultation with the Program Convenor. Typically four elective courses (24 units) are selected from the options available in teaching and learning, curriculum innovation, research supervision and academic leadership. An action learning project (4 x 3-units) is integrated within each of the elective courses selected. Participants also complete a capstone course (6 units), designed to provide an opportunity for integration and reflection on the experience and findings of all the previous courses completed as part of the program. This course is also forward looking, leading to a diagnosis of professional development priorities on which to base an independent action research project (6-units), allowing an extended investigation of some aspect of participant's practice as an academic. Program StructureThe program is flexible and each participant can customise their study commitments to meet specific needs, subject to overall assessment requirements. Negotiation of this plan with the Program Convenor prior to the commencement of study is encouraged. A possible course pathway for undertaking the Masters of Higher Education is presented below. Courses may be completed in a different order, and shorter or longer time periods may be negotiated with the Program Convenor. 2009 Timetable
