Seminars & Workshops

CEDAM offers programs to enhance academic capacity in the areas of

  • Teaching and learning
  • Curriculum design
  • Research supervision
  • Academic leadership

through courses, seminars and workshops. Any member of staff (academic and general, full or part-time) as well as postgraduate students are welcome to participate.

Some courses offered in the professional development program are also being undertaken by award students working towards a Graduate Certificate or Masters degree (these participants submit assessment items).

Semester 2 program

Academic Women's Writing Workshop (CASS, CAP & COL)

This workshop is for academic women staff of the ANU from the Colleges of Asia and the Pacific, Arts and Social Sciences, and Law. Participants, who will be expected to have already completed the necessary research for their project, will write a peer-reviewed academic paper or chapter, or complete a book proposal over this week-long period. Introduction to Research Supervision at the ANU

CEDAM offers, in conjunction with the ANU Colleges, an program for staff new to research supervision. The one day program consists of three modules, all of which would need to be taken to constitute completing the program.

  • Module 1: Developing Positive Working Relationships and reflective practice.
  • Module 2: Supervisory contexts.
  • Module 3: Supervisory roles, responsibilities, and skills, including College-specific advice

Foundations of University Teaching and Learning

This course is designed to provide an introduction to the fundamentals of university teaching and learning within the ANU context. It consists of six half-day intensive workshops, and may be taken as a professional development course or as an award course.

Academic Leadership and Management

Participants will explore the challenges of academic leadership and management and the skills and strategies required to meet these challenges. The course has a strong practical focus and provides many opportunities for participants to extend their repertoire of skills and strategies. Particular attention is given to the self-management skills that underpin effectiveness in managing and leading others.

Fees

Courses are at no cost unless taken as part of an award program, except for ALM: Academic Leadership and Management has a $500 registration fee (includes GST which is payable by an individual, however if your department/school/centre is paying the fee via a journal entry there is no GST liability).
