Australian Awards for University Teaching

NEWS - October 2009

The ALTC has announced the 2009 recipients of the Australian Awards for University Teaching. There were 4 award recipients in the ANU:

Dr Paul Chen from the School of Economics, (Award for Teaching Excellence);

A/Prof Amanda Barnard from the ANU Medical School Rural Program (Award for Programs that Enhance Learning);

A/Prof Paul Kelly and the team from the M. Applied Epidemiology Program (Award for Programs that Enhance Learning);

Prof Rosemary Martin and Dr Gwen Allison from the ANU Medical School Research Projects Initiative (Award for Programs that Enhance Learning).

The Australian Awards for University Teaching are an important part of the Australian Learning & Teaching Council's mission to promote and advance learning and teaching in Australian higher education.

The ALTC award program is comprised of award types that recognise teaching excellence and outstanding contributions to student learning.The Australian Awards for University Teaching are offered each year by the Australian Learning and Teaching Council, formerly known as the Carrick Institute.

Citations for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning recognise and reward the diverse contributions that individuals and teams make to the quality of student learning.

[3]Awards for Teaching Excellence [3]

The awards give recognition to teachers (individuals and teams) renowned for the excellence of their teaching, who have outstanding presentation skills and who have made a broad and deep contribution to enhancing the quality of learning and teaching in higher education.

Awards for Programs that Enhance Learning [4]

These awards recognise learning and teaching support programs and services that make an outstanding contribution to the quality of student learning and the quality of the student experience of higher education.
